Advocacy for Florida Libraries
Advocacy efforts by the Florida Library Association include leading the fight for State Aid to Libraries funding for public libraries and intervening in a 2009 lawsuit to support the requirement that library directors be full-time employees. FLA's advocacy includes support for school, college and university libraries as well a multitype library cooperatives and the State Library and Archives.
Scholarship Program
FLA provides graduate and undergraduate scholarships. Three scholarships are available for those pursing Master's degrees in library and information science: one to Florida State University, one to the University of South Florida and a third, the Minority scholarship, to someone attending either school. Two undergraduate scholarships are also available: one for a student pursing an associate's degree and one for a student pursuing a bachelor's degree.
