FLA Email List Guidelines and Use

"" Purpose & Description

  • The FLA electronic discussion list is for the discussion of issues relating to the Florida Library Association, libraries in Florida, and libraries in general. 
  • There is one general, unmoderated FLA discussion list.  Subscribers may receive messages posted to it individually or in digest form.

"" Subscribing

  • Only members of FLA may subscribe to the lists and only subscribers may post messages.
  • Members of FLA may subscribe to the general list by contacting the FLA Office.

"" Posting Policy

The following policy governs all postings to the FLA Discussion List:

  • All messages must relate to the general topics of the Florida Library Association, libraries in Florida, or libraries in general.
  • Advertisements are not appropriate.  However, a simple statement that offers a way to follow up for more information on a service or product is permitted if it accompanies a substantive message discussing a subject appropriate to the list.  Announcements of conferences, workshops, new publications, and position openings appropriate to the topic of the list are allowed.
  • All postings must be free of copyright restrictions that limit distribution.  For example, posting a significant amount of a copyrighted work verbatim requires the permission of the copyright holder.  To verify that such permission was obtained, all postings of this nature must include a statement that this is the case.  It is preferred that individuals post a small piece of a work, such as a newspaper or magazine article, and provide a link to the full work.

"" How to Send an E-mail to the List

Send an e-mail to: fla@lists.fsu.edu . Including a subject on the subject line will help discussion list members identify the topic of the post.

"" How to Unsubscribe

Go to https://lists.fsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/fla and scroll down to the FLA Subscribers section.  Enter your e-mail address in the box under the instructions “To unsubscribe from FLA, get a password reminder, or change your subscription options enter your subscription email address.”  Click on “Unsubscribe or edit options.”   On the next page, click on “Unsubscribe.”    You’ll receive an e-mail message confirming that you want to unsubscribe.  Click on the link in the e-mail to complete the process.

"" How to Change Settings to Digest Form

Go to https://lists.fsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/fla and scroll down to the FLA Subscribers section.  Enter your e-mail address in the box under the instructions “To unsubscribe from FLA, get a password reminder, or change your subscription options enter your subscription email address.”  Click on “Unsubscribe or edit options.”   Enter your membership password and select the option for receiving messages in a digest form.
