Putting your best foot forward: Breaking in and rising up

This session will be a two part presentation related to achieving success as a library professional. The first part will focus on attaining gainful employment in libraries and will focus on areas such as developing a resume/CV and a cover letter, managing your online presence, and preparing for job interviews. The second part will focus on thriving in your current position while creating opportunities for future success and advancement in the field.

Chely Cantrell, Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library
Renaine Julian, Florida State University Libraries
 

Chely Cantrell is the Manager of Library Development for the Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Libraries.  She has an MLIS from the University of Illinois and a BA in English Literature from the University of Central Florida.  Her research interests include: library management and leadership, human resources, organizational culture, library marketing and community engagement.

Renaine is the Associate Director for STEM Libraries at Florida State University Libraries. He has a MLIS, a MS in Urban and Regional Planning, and a BS in Political Science all from Florida State University. His research interests include: library management and leadership, research data management, scholarly communication, and data information literacy.
