Session Description 

In 2019 we hosted an Employment Expo. Unlike a job fair, this event brought together library and community resources to improve employability skills for participants. In this session, we will share outcomes from our event as well as tips on creating community partnerships to support workforce development.

Presenters 

Amanda Jones, Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative
Amanda Jones manages the West Tampa Branch Library in the Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative. With previous experience in the Learning Experiences department and as a small business resource specialist, she is exited to use her knowledge to support workforce development in her community.

Laura Maury, Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative
Laura Maury is a Supervisory Librarian in the Learning Experiences department of the Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative. She delivers programming support to branches on small business development and large-scale community events. Laura also provides outreach to area economic development organizations to promote the role the library has in strengthening its community.

Chris Sturgeon, Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative
Chris Sturgeon currently manages the Charles J. Fendig Public Library in Hillsborough County. He has provided reference and programming in support of economic development – including entrepreneurship and workforce development. Chris is a 2019 SSLLI graduate. This is his third time presenting at FLA
