In fall 2017, the Orange County Library System (OCLS) established new directions in three major areas:

1) Mission, vision, values; 2) strategic plan; 3) customer service standards. Adopting these organizational identity positions involved careful planning, consultation, and an embrace of system-wide participation (and fun!). This webinar will discuss best practices, lessons learned, and some of the history and philosophy that led OCLS to this innovative collaboration.

Presented by Matthew David (OCLS) and Colleen Hooks (OCLS).

Matthew David is the Learning Central Manager for the Orange County Library System (OCLS) and Chair of the FLA Planning Committee. He has worked in public and academic libraries since 1998 and presented at conferences and meetings in Florida, Illinois and Pennsylvania. He earned graduate degrees in Not-For-Profit Administration (DePaul University) and Library Science (University of Illinois). Matthew and his wife are the proud parents of two young readers – and an adorable, scrappy dog he found outside the library (named Lizzy Raleigh David!).

Colleen Hooks has been able to combine her love of libraries and passion for staff development while working as the Training and Development Specialist for the Orange County Library System.  She received an MSLS degree from Clarion University and is an active member of FLA's Continuing Education Committee, and ALA's Learning Round Table.  Colleen lives in Orlando with her husband, their cat Bacon, and two dogs Harley Quinn and Bucky Barnes.  She is enthusiastic about coffee, pizza, Chewbacca and Tampa Bay Lightning hockey.
