Is Passport Acceptance at Your Library Worth the Gamble?

Michele Stiles, Miami-Dade Public Library System
Michele Stiles has been a librarian with the Miami-Dade Public Library System (MDPLS) for 18 years.  She obtained her Master’s in Library Science from Florida State University while completing MDPLS’s  Librarian Intern and Trainee Program. After three dedicated years working in Children’s Services, Ms. Stiles spent the next 13 years as a Branch Manager of various libraries, including small, medium, and regional facilities.  While Branch Manager of the South Dade Regional Library in 2015, Michele was responsible for implementing the MDPLS Passport Services Pilot Program.  The program was an instant success for library customers and staff and has since been expanded to include a second passport acceptance facility at the North Dade Regional Library.  In her current role as Library Operations Administrator for MDPLS’s North Region, Ms. Stiles oversees the operations of 15 library locations, including both passport acceptance facilities.
