March 2025 FLA President's Message

I am writing to cordially invite you to the Florida Library Association's 2025 Annual Conference, themed "Overdue for Fun: Celebrating Libraries and Ourselves" held from May 14 to 16, 2025, at the Hilton DoubleTree SeaWorld in Orlando. This annual event is a valuable opportunity to come together and celebrate our shared passion for libraries, lifelong learning, and the essential role library professionals play in the communities we serve and call home.

The conference will include a special conversation with social media sensation, the creator of “Library Joy”, Mychal Threets.  Plus, we have a special breakout session titled "Building Joy-Centric Libraries: An Experiential Approach" by Rebecca Hass, author of the recently published American Library Association (ALA) monograph 101 Seeds for Library Joy.  As a bonus, please consider attending a free virtual pre-conference conversation session with Rebecca on Tuesday, March 25 from 12-1pm.  All are welcome; register today!

The conference promises an enriching experience with over 35 breakout sessions, opportunities to network with library vendors in the Exhibit Hall, be entertained at the Performers Showcase, eat and drink deliciousness at an exciting After-Hours event, and party at the "Florida Tropical" themed President's Reception with an energetic DJ and a comedy show by librarian comedian Meredith Myers.  The conference offers much more.
