Session Description 

This session will have 5 panelists made up of academic and public librarians. Each panelist will talk about how they are dealing with the need to make changes to how we have traditionally looked at Technical Services roles so we can continue leading forward in a rapidly changing technical world.

Presenters 

Alyssa Koclanes, Eckerd College
Alyssa Koclanes is an Associate Professor and Technical Services, Serials, and Instruction Librarian at Eckerd College. Her responsibilities include reference, cataloging, and managing the technical services and serials departments. She holds an MLS from the University of South Florida.

Deirdre Lewis-Gustafson, Miami-Dade Public Library System
Ms. Lewis-Gustafson is the Lead Collection Development Librarian for the Miami-Dade Public Library System. She holds an MLS from Drexel University, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Marina Morgan, Florida Southern College
Marina Morgan is the Metadata Librarian at Florida Southern College, Roux Library. She has a Master of Information Studies from the University of Toronto, Canada, and a Post-Master’s Certificate in Library and Information Science, Web Programming and Information Architecture Pathway from San José State University. Her research interests focus on scholarly communication, digital initiatives, and enrichment of metadata for digital and physical collections.

Jessica O’Neil, Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach
Jessica O’Neil is the Technical Services Librarian at Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach. She has a Masters of Library Science from University of South Florida and a Bachelor of Arts from Eckerd College. Jessica currently serves on various FLA committees and has served on ALCTS committees. Her professional interests are learning about new library technology and current trends in libraries.
