Session Description 

Librarianship involves emotional labor, which is associated with stress and burnout. Fortunately, low-cost mindfulness and laughter yoga activities reduce stress and reverse burnout. Learn how to recognize stress among library employees and participate in a meditation and laughter yoga session guided by a certified lead. You will leave laughing!

Sarah J. Hammill, Florida International University
Sarah "Ha Ha" Hammill is the Business & Online Learning Librarian at Florida International University. She is certified in laughter yoga. Her research interests include mindfulness and how laughter, yoga, and breathing can be used to prevent burnout among library employees.

Barbara M. Sorondo, Florida International University
Barbara M. Sorondo is the Health Sciences Librarian at Florida International University. Her academic background is in psychology, education, and library science. Her research interests include the physical and psychological well-being of library staff and information literacy instruction in higher education.
