Session Description

Right before an Incident or when the Incident is occurring is not the time to prepare. How can we as library professionals be ready to react and respond during times of crisis? What do we do, and where do we turn for training? In this session, we will talk about mitigation steps and pre-disaster planning that can set up your agency for success. We will cover the concept of integrating your library in the response and recovery process to achieve common community goals. I will show and outline how my library system has become an integral part of my county's emergency response system. As a State Emergency Management Instructor, I will outline the thousands of FREE FEMA and SERT class room training opportunities that are taught throughout Florida. These training courses cover a wide range of disaster and mitigation subjects and skill sets. We will cover how to get signed in and navigate the magical world of emergency management instructional courses.
