Telling library stories in your community should be a natural exercise for any and all staff members. Library leaders however tend to have more opportunities to share tales through their greater involvement with community groups. Through their networking efforts, anecdotes/narratives/yarns could be quite influencing. Some attempts will be failures and others, wonderful conversation pieces. Public stories have long memories and if told right, will have lasting value. These leadership stories are told from a public and an academic point of view. Although they may vary, each tale reinforces the importance of what we do as a profession.
