Session Description
Leading forward means building community connections. Word-Of-Mouth-Marketing can inspire patronage, ambassadorship, and advocacy. This session explores developing interpersonal marketing proficiencies and opportunities to put them into practice. Participants will leave with tools necessary for exercising these skills and sharing them with others.
Presenters
Matthew David, Tampa Hillsborough County Public Library Matthew is the Learning Central Manager for the Tampa Hillsborough County Public Library (THPL). Before joining THPL, he served as the Learning Central Manager for the Orange County Library System where he represented the library regularly in the community and served on the institution's marketing committee. He is an active member of FLA and previously served as the Chair of the Planning Committee. He currently is a member of the Fundraising Committee and Leadership Development Committee. When he is not at the library, Matthew spends time with his wife of 19 years, two daughters, and Lizzy -- an adorable dog he found outside his library 5 years ago.
Erin Sullivan, Orange County Library System Erin Sullivan is the Public Relations Administrator for the Orange County Library System (OCLS). After a career in journalism she came to work for OCLS in 2016. She put her experience working with the media to work for the library, building relationships with community organizations, influencers, library super-users and journalists to encourage them to share the library’s message with their respective audiences – and to empower the library’s staff to recognize how they can also serve as library ambassadors. She has worked with the team in the Marketing and Public Relations Department to create a marketing strategy for OCLS that emphasizes outreach, interpersonal marketing and partnerships to better connect with the library with the community it serves.
