After 17 years of a flat materials budget, more than 10 years without a full collection review, a 63+% FTE increase, a reduction of 43% in personnel, and a change in Carnegie Classification to R1, the FAU Library budget reached a crisis point where collection cancellations were necessary to stay within its annual allocation. The Libraries proactively decided to create a process utilizing the principles of transparency, self-advocacy, and stakeholder education to guide a campus-wide process to complete a comprehensive collection review of all renewable subscriptions and all one-time purchases over a 3-year period. This presentation will highlight lessons learned after one complete year of the newly created campus-wide Collection Advisory Committee (CAC).
